Denys Argenta
Denys Argenta lived on Dragonstone and claimed descent from a bastard son of King Maegor the Cruel, a strand of Targaryen blood no one could fully prove. When the Dance of the Dragons broke out and Prince Jacaerys Velaryon began searching for riders among those who claimed that blood, Denys came forward as a candidate, several of his sons at his side.
His claim divided opinion even among his own kin, since Maegor left no living heir despite marrying more than once to women of childbearing age, and some believed his real forebear had simply been another man of Valyrian stock.
Chapter 1
The blood no one could confirm
Denys presented himself as the grandson or great-grandson of a bastard of Maegor I Targaryen, and carried the features Dragonstone associated with that house's blood. But Maegor's own history worked against him: the king married several times to women of childbearing age, and none of them gave him an heir who survived.
That gap left room for another explanation, and more than a few suspected that Denys's forebear had simply been another man of Valyrian origin, unconnected to the royal house. The doubt was never settled, and Denys lived — and was treated — according to the blood he claimed, not the blood he could prove.

Jacaerys VelaryonWhen the Dance of the Dragons began, Prince Jacaerys Velaryon went through Dragonstone looking for anyone who might claim a dragon for the queen's cause. Denys, with his unconfirmed Targaryen blood, presented himself before Sheepstealer and tried to tame it.
The dragon would not be ridden: it tore off his arm in a single bite. His sons, who had come with him, rushed to help him with the wound, and it was then that Cannibal dropped from the sky and devoured them all, Denys among them.
