Henk
On this tab
Henk the Helmsman was a young wildling born in a village by the sea, a member of the war band Jarl led across the Wall.
His party, hidden among the lands of the Gift, was part of Mance Rayder's plan to strike Castle Black from its weakest side.
Crossing the Wall
Mance Rayder had charged Jarl and Styr with leading a small band of warriors south of the Wall, to fall on the defenders of Castle Black from where they were least guarded. Henk the Helmsman marched among them, one more man in Jarl's band.
They crossed the Wall at a point between Stonedoor and Greyguard and, once on the other side, made their way into the Gift with Styr in command, moving carefully to avoid the patrols of the Night's Watch.

Battle of Castle Black
When the attack was discovered, Jon Snow helped organize the defense of Castle Black against the very men he had crossed the Wall with. In the fighting that followed, the brothers of the Night's Watch killed every wildling who had come in from the south.
Henk the Helmsman died in the year 299, though how he died is not known.
