Lord Caswell

Lord Caswell was the lord of Bitterbridge during the reign of Aerys II Targaryen, head of a house with four daughters and a single male heir, Lorent.

What little is known of him has nothing to do with wars or the court, but with the excess he went to in defending that son: anyone who spoke ill of Lorent could expect to be punished for it.

Rolly's flight

Books only

Among the boys of the castle was Rolly, the smith's son, so strongly built that Caswell offered him a place in his garrison. The offer did not prevent the clash: a quarrel over a sword led Lorent to insult him, and Rolly answered by smashing his arms and ribs.

Rolly did not stay to learn what punishment the lord of Bitterbridge had in store for what he had done to his son. Convinced that Caswell's wrath would fall on him, he fled the castle.
