Nymor Martell
Nymor Martell was Prince of Dorne and Lord of Sunspear during the reign of Aegon I Targaryen, at a time when his land and the Iron Throne were still openly at war.
It fell to him to decide how that conflict would end, and he chose to send an embassy to King's Landing rather than an army.
Chapter 1
The heir of Sunspear
Books only
Nymor Martell came to the title of Prince of Dorne at sixty, when his mother, Princess Meria Martell, died. With it he also inherited the lordship of Sunspear and a war his house had been dragging against the Iron Throne since the reign of Aegon I Targaryen.
He is described as a man of poor health, already old when he took power.
Chapter 2
The skull of Meraxes
Books only
Instead of continuing the war, Nymor chose peace. He sent his daughter Deria at the head of a delegation of Dornish nobles to King's Landing, carrying the skull of the dragon Meraxes as a gift for Aegon and a letter written in his own hand.
No one knows what that letter said. It has been claimed it spoke of Rhaenys Targaryen surviving her dragon's fall and not ceasing to suffer until the war ended, that it carried some kind of curse, or that Nymor threatened to spend all of Dorne's wealth hiring a Faceless Man to kill Aenys, the king's heir.
Whatever it said, Aegon read it and left for Dragonstone; he returned the next day and signed the peace with the Dornish.
