House Briar
Casa Briar
House Briar was one of twelve noble houses that divided the Greenblood river valley and the eastern coast of Dorne between them before the Andals crossed the Narrow Sea. Like so many other First Men lines settled along that stretch, its lords came to style themselves High King of Dorne.
Whether any Briar survives today is unknown, and so is the house's fate after the war that pitted those twelve rival kingdoms against one another.
Chapter 1
The high kings of the Greenblood
Books only
Before the Andals ever set foot in Dorne, the region was split among First Men lines that fought over the land without answering to anyone above them. House Briar was one of twelve houses that settled along the Greenblood and the eastern coast, and like its neighbours, it took up the title of High King of Dorne for itself.
The title described no shared rule: each of those twelve houses claimed sovereignty in its own right, which sooner or later set them against one another. That rebellion left three lines wiped out entirely, while the rest were reduced to lesser lordships, stripped of any claim to rule over the others.
Nothing records which side House Briar took in that conflict, or how it fared. It may have been one of the houses erased from the map, or it may have kept a smaller domain among those that remained standing. The sources are silent on this, and equally silent on whether any Briar is alive today.
