House Holt

Casa Holt

Not to be confused with House Holt (The North).

House Holt was one of the twelve noble houses that settled along the Sangreverde river and the eastern coast of Dorne and claimed the title of High King of Dorne before the Andals ever reached Westeros. Its fate was bound up in the war that pitted those twelve lineages against one another, and whether it survived that war is not known. Another house bears the same name in the North, though no kinship between them is recorded.

Chapter 1

A crown among twelve

Books only

Before the Andals crossed the narrow sea, House Holt was counted among the twelve noble houses that had settled along the Sangreverde river and the eastern coast of Dorne. Like the other eleven, it took up the title of High King of Dorne, ruling its own patch of land without bowing to any higher authority.

That coexistence of twelve crowns did not last: a rebellion broke out among the lineages contesting the title, and three of them were wiped out in the fighting. Whether House Holt was one of those that vanished then, or instead managed to carve out a kingdom of its own, is not known. Nor is there any word of any of its members still being alive.
