House Jast
Casa Jast
House Jast is a minor noble house of the Westerlands, sworn to House Lannister of Casterly Rock. Its arms show three lions' heads on a black field, crossed by an inverted yellow pall.
Its origin goes back to the time when the Westerlands absorbed the Andal invaders, and what is known of its history is bound almost entirely to that of its Lannister overlords.
Chapter 1
From enemy to vassal
Books only
The Jasts carry Andal blood. When the invaders reached the Westerlands, the Kings of the Rock chose not to fight them to the last; they struck bargains instead, and one path was marrying their children to the newcomers. House Jast arose from that policy of alliances, bound from then on to the Rock as a vassal house.
No source credits it with a seat of its own, and its trace in recorded history is thin: it surfaces mostly when its fortunes cross those of its Lannister overlords.
Chapter 2
Stafford Lannister's defeat
Books only
A northern army fell upon Stafford Lannister's forces and killed him along with several of his lords. One hundred and fifty of his men were taken prisoner, among them Martyn Lannister and the sons of Lord Jast, captured along with the rest of the host.
