Ib Sar

Ib Sar is an Ibbenese city on the southern coast of Far Ib, deep in the Shivering Sea.

For centuries it served as the destination for prisoners Ibben judged too dangerous to leave free, and that history has left it a reputation the city has never quite shaken.

Chapter 1

Exile for the dangerous

Books only

For generations the Ibbenese used Ib Sar as a place of banishment for the prisoners they found most troublesome. It was no ordinary prison: this was where Ibben's rulers sent those they wanted far away and out of the picture.

Some of those prisoners were mutilated before being shipped off, a way of making sure that even if they escaped, they could never set foot on Ibben again.

The practice held until the fall of the God-Kings of Ib, during the Bloody Century. After that, Ib Sar stopped serving that purpose.

Chapter 2

A shadow that won't fade

Books only

Ib Sar no longer sends prisoners off to be maimed, but the city still carries the dark reputation it earned over centuries.

When the Ibbenese founded New Ibbish on the continent, it ended up resembling not the earlier colony the Dothraki destroyed, but Ib Sar itself. Something of that legacy still shows in how the place was built and is lived in.
