Plains of the Jogos Nhai
las Llanuras de los Jogos Nhai
The Plains of the Jogos Nhai are a vast steppe in Essos, stretching between the Bone Mountains and the Great Sand Sea to the west and the Bleeding Sea to the east, closed off to the south by the Shrinking Sea. No single city stands among the grasses: the people who live there, the Jogos Nhai, are scattered across the plains, follow the worship of the Moonsingers, and share the land with herds of zorses and grey elephants.
The nearest cities, Nefer to the northeast and Tolos to the south, lie beyond their borders, so what contact the Jogos Nhai have with the rest of Essos usually comes through those neighbours or through whoever happens to cross their path.
Chapter 1
The gift of the zorse
Books only
While staying in Qarth, Daenerys Targaryen is visited by a couple from the Plains of the Jogos Nhai, who present her with a zorse as a mark of honour. It is the only trace this people leaves in her story: a gift carried far from their grasslands into the hands of someone only just beginning to cross Essos.
