The Green Hell is a remote region of Sothoryos, lying beyond the forests south of the ruins of Yeen, and no one has ever mapped its true extent.
Its reputation rests not on what is known of it but on what is told: a land of endless jungles, deserts, and mountains said to be home to the most fearsome creatures in Sothoryos.

The Green Hell stretches across Sothoryos, beyond the forests south of the ruins of Yeen. No one has ever determined how much land it truly covers.
When the dragonlady Jaenara Belaerys flew over it upon Terrax, all she found beyond it were endless jungles, deserts, and mountains.
Chapter 2
The beasts of the Green Hell

The tales told of the region describe wildlife more dangerous even than that of the jungle to the north. Caves are said to be home to pale white vampires able to drain a man dry within minutes, while tattooed lizards stalk the undergrowth, running down their prey and tearing it apart with the curved claws on their hind legs.
Serpents over fifty feet long slither through the brush, and spiders spin their webs from tree to tree. But of all the creatures said to dwell in the Green Hell, the most feared are the wyverns: winged beasts resembling dragons that, though they breathe no fire, surpass them in ferocity.
