The Gulf of Grief

el golfo de la Aflicción

The gulf that cuts into the southern coast of Essos opens between Slaver's Bay and the Summer Sea. Its western shore holds what is left of Valyria; its eastern shore, the ruined city of Old Ghis. Two fallen empires face each other across its waters, one still smoking, the other only stone.
