Malko
Malko captains a slaver's ship that works the waters between Slaver's Bay and the Summer Sea, along the routes that run to Volantis. It's his crew that comes across Jorah Mormont and Tyrion Lannister at sea, and what Malko decides to do with them shapes where the two men end up.
Chapter 1
The capture on the Summer Sea
Show only
Malko's ship is anchored off the coast, partway through a run to Volantis to take on fresh water, when his crew finds and seizes Jorah Mormont and Tyrion Lannister. Malko sees only cargo in them: he means to keep Jorah as a slave and kill Tyrion, though not before cutting off his manhood, which he reckons is worth something on its own.
Tyrion talks his way around the plan instead of fighting it. He offers Malko a different deal: take them to Meereen, to the fighting pits, where Jorah could prove his worth in the arena rather than end up dead or sold off outright.
What actually tips Malko is something else: word reaches him that Jorah killed Qotho, a Dothraki bloodrider, and that news changes how he looks at Tyrion's offer.
