The Summer Sea

el mar del Verano

Not to be confused with The Summer Sea (sea).

The Summer Sea is the vast body of water that separates southern Westeros from the continent of Sothoryos, also washing the southern shores of Essos. Its currents lead to the Summer Isles and the Slaver's Bay, and it meets the Jade Sea through the straits of Qarth and Cinnamon, while the Stepstones separate it from the Narrow Sea.

Given its size and position, it is one of the routes by which the three known continents are connected, and much of the world's travel and trade passes, in one way or another, through its waters.
