Olyvar
Olyvar works in one of King's Landing's brothels, owned by Petyr Baelish. Between the sheets he picks up secrets he carries back to his master, and that double life of lover and spy shapes everything he does.
His closeness to Ser Loras Tyrell pulls him deep into the court's tangles, where affection and loyalty count for less than whatever information someone is willing to buy.
Chapter 1
Loras's squire
Show only
During a training session, Olyvar serves as squire to Ser Loras Tyrell. Their flirting ends in bed, and there Olyvar learns that Loras is about to marry. Shortly after, he passes the news on to Petyr Baelish, his real master.
Chapter 2
Littlefinger's brothel
Show only
Olyvar is left running one of King's Landing's brothels, seemingly taking over from Ros. When Prince Oberyn Martell and his lover Ellaria Sand visit, Olyvar shows them three prostitutes; once Ellaria picks one and dismisses the other two, Oberyn's attention turns to him. Olyvar protests that he isn't for hire, then gives in and warns that his attentions come at a price. The scene breaks off when the prince hears some Lannister soldiers singing 'The Rains of Castamere'.
Later he joins Oberyn, Ellaria and two other women. Ellaria kisses him and Olyvar politely turns her down, saying women aren't to his taste, and pushes Oberyn to stop hiding his own. The prince explains his open view of sex, common enough among Dornishmen. Olyvar and the others leave when Tywin Lannister arrives looking for Oberyn.
Chapter 3
The Septon's visits
Show only
Olyvar keeps seeing Loras. Around the time of Tywin's funeral, the two are in bed talking about running off to Dorne or anywhere far from King's Landing when Margaery walks in: she scolds Loras for being late to dinner and dismisses Olyvar outright.
Days later, Olyvar puts on a false beard and plays the Father for the High Septon, who visits the brothel while other prostitutes act out the rest of the Seven. He can't resist a jab at the Septon's tastes and reminds him two women cost more than one. The brothel is then stormed by a band of sparrows led by Lancel Lannister, who seize the High Septon; Olyvar tries to warn them off by saying they'll answer to Baelish, but he's struck in the face and his false beard is torn off.
Chapter 4
The testimony
Show only
Olyvar is called to testify in the Faith's inquiry against Loras, charged with fornication, sodomy and blasphemy at Cersei's instigation. Despite what they once had, Olyvar testifies against his lover and gives the High Sparrow what he needs to bring formal charges; Loras lunges at him and has to be restrained. The same testimony leads to Margaery's arrest for perjury, even though both she and Loras call Olyvar a liar.
Before Lady Olenna, Petyr Baelish admits that Cersei forced him to hand Olyvar over in exchange for the information she wanted, and that he's now offering Olenna the same thing he gave Cersei: a handsome young man, in this case Lancel.
