House Bolton of Winterfell
Casa Bolton de Invernalia
House Bolton of Winterfell is a minor branch of House Bolton of the Dreadfort, founded in 300 AC with one concrete purpose: to put a Bolton at the head of the North, not through conquest, but through marriage.
Its entire history turns on that wedding: a young woman known as Arya Stark, brought from the south to a ruined Winterfell to marry Ramsay Bolton, giving the new house the legitimacy no army could grant it.

The branch is created in 300 AC, split off from House Bolton of the Dreadfort, with the wedding already built into its purpose.

Ramsay proclaims himself Lord of Winterfell in writing, in one letter sent to Deepwood Motte and another to the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, Jon Snow.
Roose summons the northern lords to Winterfell even though the castle is still in ruins, and there, in the godswood, the wedding between Ramsay and "Arya Stark" takes place.
