House Brax of Hornvale
Casa Brax de Valdecuerno
House Brax of Hornvale is a noble house of the Westerlands, sworn to the Lannisters of Casterly Rock, seated at the castle of Hornvale south of their liege lord's stronghold.
Its arms, a purple unicorn on a silver field, point back to the house's origins in the days of the Andal Invasion, when the Kings of the Rock chose to marry their children to the newcomers rather than keep fighting them.
Chapter 1
The pact that founded the house
Books only
House Brax was born of a political decision rather than a conquest: during the Andal Invasion, the Kings of the Rock of House Lannister chose to turn their Andal enemies into allies, marrying their children to them instead of prolonging the war.
From those marriage alliances came the line that would in time settle at Hornvale, south of Casterly Rock, and take as its arms a purple unicorn upon silver.
Chapter 2

At the Tourney of the Hand, amid the sea of banners raised by the assembled knights, the purple unicorn of House Brax could also be seen upon its silver field, a sign that the house had a presence among the nobility gathered for the joust.
Chapter 3
The siege of Riverrun and the death of Lord Andros
Books only
When Tywin Lannister called his bannermen to war for the War of the Five Kings, House Brax answered the summons, and its forces joined the army commanded by Jaime Lannister.
During the siege of Riverrun, Lord Andros Brax was left in command of the western camp. He died attempting to cross the river to come to the defense of the other camps, which were then under attack from Robb Stark's forces. He was succeeded as head of the house by his son, Ser Tytos Brax.
