House Darkwood

Casa Darkwood

House Darkwood is a minor house of the Crownlands, with no seat or founding date recorded in any source. It is said to be a distant relation of House Darklyn, and its entire documented history takes place in Duskendale.

No lords or knights of this name appear in any account: only the name of a family that survived a conflict in that town, a name locals were still carrying when Brienne of Tarth passed through looking for Sansa Stark.

Chapter 1

Kin of the Darklyns

Books only

House Darkwood appears in the sources on the Crownlands as a family with no seat of its own, remembered only through the rumor of a distant kinship with House Darklyn. No account names a lord or lady of this name, or fixes when the house was founded or whether it ever died out.

The sources date only one thing about it: House Darkwood survived the Defiance of Duskendale, the conflict that gives that episode of the town's history its name, though they say nothing of how the house took part in it or what it cost them.

Chapter 2

The names that remain in Duskendale

Books only

When Brienne of Tarth reaches Duskendale searching for word of Sansa Stark, a servant at the inn tells her the town still has plenty of people named Dargood, Darke, and Darkwood.

She gives no count and draws no distinction of standing: the Darkwoods are named alongside the Dargoods and the Darkes simply as common names still found among the townsfolk.
