House Greenwood
Casa Greenwood
House Greenwood was one of the many royal houses that ruled the North in the centuries before the Andals crossed the Narrow Sea, when the region was not a single kingdom but a patchwork of rival lines descended from the First Men.
Its name has survived mostly because of its role against House Stark of Winterfell, the house it rivalled and which would eventually overcome its royal line.
Chapter 1
Kings who rivalled the Starks
Books only
The Greenwoods held the title of Kings in the North, in an age when the territory was divided among several lines of the First Men and no single throne yet held authority over all of it.
What is known of their history comes down almost entirely to their conflict with the Starks: the two houses were enemies, and it was that rivalry that sealed the Greenwoods' fate, defeated by Winterfell. Their royal line ended with that defeat.
