House Roxton of the Ring
Casa Roxton de Ring
House Roxton of the Ring is a noble family of the Reach, sworn to House Tyrell and descended from Andal adventurers who settled in the region. It holds an ancestral Valyrian steel sword, Orphan-Maker, and counts among its knights men who fought in some of the realm's great conflicts, including the Dance of the Dragons.
Chapter 1
Andal blood in the Reach
Books only
The first Roxtons were not born in the Reach: they arrived as Andal adventurers, among the many who crossed the narrow sea seeking their fortune. The Gardener kings of that age, Garth IX, Merle I and Gwayne V, granted them wives and lands in the region, and the house traces its origin to that grant.
Chapter 2
A Roxton among the victors
Books only
Generations later, Ser Lorence Roxton was counted among the knights who emerged victorious from the War of the White Cloaks, an episode the house remembers as one of its proudest moments in arms.
Chapter 3
The sword in the Dance
Books only
During the Dance of the Dragons, Ser Jon Roxton wielded the ancestral Orphan-Maker and fought with it on the field. He slew Hugh Hammer, but he himself fell shortly after, at the second battle of Tumbleton.
