Bloodstone

Piedrasangre

Bloodstone is the largest island of the Stepstones, the scattered chain of rocks that separates Westeros from Essos. It lies north of Grey Gallows and southwest of Tyrosh.

For a time it was more than a rock in the middle of the Narrow Sea: the seat from which Daemon Targaryen proclaimed himself King of the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea.

The largest island

Books and show

In this chapterDaemon Targaryen

Of all the islands that make up the Stepstones, Bloodstone is the largest. It sits north of Grey Gallows and southwest of Tyrosh, wedged into the stretch of sea that anyone crossing between Westeros and Essos must pass through.

It was there that Daemon Targaryen set up his rule when he styled himself King of the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea, turning the island into the capital of a kingdom born in the middle of the water.
