Field of Crows
Campo de Cuervos
Field of Crows is a settlement on the eastern plains, remembered above all as the site of the battle that sealed the fate of the Sarnori cities against the Dothraki khalasars during the Bleeding Century.
There the last High King of Sarnath faced four united horselords in a clash that shifted the balance of power across the region.
Chapter 1
The horselords' trap
Books only
At Field of Crows the great host raised by Mazor Alexi, last High King of the Sarnori, met the combined strength of four khalasars led by Khal Haro, Khal Qano, Khal Loso and Khal Zhako. Sarnori war chariots, fitted with spinning blades on their wheels, tore through the Dothraki horses and cut Khal Haro himself to pieces under his own mount's hooves. As the horselords appeared to break and flee, the High Men charged after them shouting victory.
The retreat was a ruse. Khal Qano's and Khal Zhako's riders wheeled about and loosed volleys of arrows into the Sarnori host, while Khal Loso sealed off any escape from the rear. Mazor Alexi's army was wiped out on the field.
Once the slaughter ended, crows feasted on the dead while Dothraki riders picked over the corpses for anything of value.
