Vaes Khewo (Sarnath)

Vaes Khewo is the Dothraki name given to a ruined city west of the Dothraki Sea. Before its destruction it was called Sarnath of the High Towers, one of the great cities of the Kingdom of Sarnor; today only its remains mark the road to Vaes Dothrak.

Chapter 1

Sarnath of the High Towers

Books only

Sarnath stood on the Sarne river, south of the Kingdom of Sarnor, and was the city-state from which the High King of Sarnor ruled. A Valyrian road linked it to Vaes Khadokh, to the east.

During the Century of Blood the Dothraki razed it. Nothing survived of its original name but memory: over its ruins, the Dothraki themselves renamed it Vaes Khewo, "the city of worms."
