The Grey Cliffs are a stretch of the North's eastern coastline, where the Shivering Sea first meets land south of the Bay of Seals and east of Karhold.
They have no history of their own beyond being a point along the way: the stretch separating Karhold from the mouth of the Broken Branch, crossed by ships sailing the bay toward White Harbor.

Wyman ManderlyStannis Baratheon sends a fleet of twenty-nine ships from the Wall, commanded by Salladhor Saan and carrying Davos Seaworth, to treat with Lord Wyman Manderly at White Harbor.
Crossing the Bay of Seals, the ships are caught in a storm: blackened skies, freezing winds, and driving rain follow them the whole way down the coast. Off the Grey Cliffs, the storm capsizes the great cog Saathos Saan.
