Kingsgrave is the seat of House Manwoody, a stronghold raised in the Red Mountains that separate Dorne from the Reach.
Its name recalls an episode from that house's origins, tied to the death of a king of the Reach.

The castle stands in the Red Mountains, the range that marks the border between Dorne and the Reach, and serves as the seat of House Manwoody.
The fortress took its name from an act of bloodshed: the founder of the house killed a king who then ruled the Reach on that very ground, and the place was left marked as that king's grave.
