Ny Sar
Ny Sar is a Rhoynar city left in rubble at the meeting point of the Rhoyne and the Noyne, in Essos. Its empty berths and the pink marble palace still standing hint at what it once was: a thriving port silenced by the Valyrian invasion.
The place holds the memory of Princess Nymeria and of the Rhoynar flight to Dorne, and centuries later it still lies along the route between the Rhoyne and Volantis.
Chapter 1
The city of the Rhoynar
Books only
Before it fell into ruin, Ny Sar had berths large enough for fifty ships and streets lined with fountains where songs used to carry. Princess Nymeria's palace stood there, a colossal building of pink and green marble with domes and spiral stairways.
The coming of the Valyrians ended that life. Like so many other Rhoynar cities, Ny Sar was left in ruins, and its people had to abandon the Rhoyne and seek shelter in Dorne.
Chapter 2
The war Nymeria didn't want
Books only
Nymeria ruled Ny Sar when Prince Garin proposed uniting all the Rhoynar princes against Volantis, in what became known as the Second Spice War. She argued against the plan.
The other princes overruled her, and even the warriors of her own city marched off to war alongside Garin, against their princess's judgment.
Chapter 3
The ruins on the road to Volantis
Books only
On their way to Volantis, Griff, Young Griff and their party pass through Ny Sar. Tyrion Lannister stares at the abandoned berths and at what still stands of the colossal palace, and realizes where he is: the legendary city that was once home to Queen Nymeria.
Shortly after, he watches a huge turtle surface from the water. Yandry tells him it is the Old Man of the River, one of the Rhoynar gods.
