Qal
Qal is a fortified island in the Jade Gates, the passage linking the narrow sea to the Sea of Jade.
Its two ports, built by Qarth on opposite shores, make it a watch point between two seas.

The two ports

Qal sits at the mouth of the strait, facing the Sea of Jade, on the eastern edge of the Jade Gates. To the south lies the island of Great Moraq; to the north, the mainland of Essos.
The island is fortified on both its coasts, with a pair of ports built by Qarth guarding the passage from one sea to the other. That double garrison makes Qal an obligatory crossing point before entering the Sea of Jade.
