Queenscrown
Corona de la Reina
Queenscrown is a ruined village beside a lake in the New Gift, south of the Wall. It takes its name from a night spent there by Queen Alysanne Targaryen, in whose honour the battlements of the old tower on the lake's island were gilded.
Little remains of the original settlement but the collapsed walls of its houses and the inn's chimney; the tower itself still stands, and has become a shelter for travelers making their way toward the Wall.
Chapter 1
The gilded tower
Books only
The village sits beside a lake and has stood empty for generations. Its houses collapsed long ago, and all that remains of the old inn is a stone chimney flanked by two half-fallen walls.
On an island in the lake rises the tower, reached by a stone path hidden beneath the water. It has five floors: the third opens onto arrow loops, the fourth has windows and a bath, and the fifth is a single round chamber with three stone balconies. Its battlements were gilded after a visit from Queen Alysanne Targaryen, whose stay gave the place its name.
Chapter 2
Shelter from the storm
Books only
On their way to the Wall, Bran Stark, Hodor, Jojen, and Meera Reed spent the night in the ruined tower, sheltering from a storm. While they waited for it to pass, a lone man arrived in the village and settled in, not knowing he wasn't alone.
That same night a band of wildlings reached the village, Jon Snow among them, and they captured the stranger. Jon was ordered to kill him. He hesitated. It was Ygritte who finished it.
