The Whispers
los Susurros
The Whispers is a ruined castle on the cliffs of Sharp Point, once the seat of House Crabb. Its name comes from a strange murmur that rises from the rocks, and from an old tale about a knight who would not let his enemies rest.
Chapter 1
The whispering cliff
Books only
The castle stands at the edge of a cliff, surrounded by forest. For generations it had a tower with a beacon, until it collapsed while Dick Crabb was still a boy. It has stood in ruins for thousands of years.
The sound that gives the place its name is nothing supernatural: it is the sea, pouring into holes carved into the cliff face, producing a steady murmur.
Chapter 2
The heads that spoke to one another
Books only
Before it fell into ruin, the Whispers was the home of Ser Clarence Crabb, a knight of great renown in Sharp Point. Every man he killed, it was said, he beheaded, carrying the head back to the castle to lay before his wife.
She would kiss it, and with that kiss the dead man would return to life. In time it was said the heads kept in the castle talked to one another at night, and that murmur of voices was what gave the place its name.
Among the heads were mages, pirates, and lords, and one had belonged to an old king of Darkdale.
The physical world
Los Susurros que dan nombre al castillo son realmente el sonido del agua del mar vertiendo en agujeros hechos en el acantilado.
