Thenn
Thenn is a valley high in the Frozen Fangs, north of the Wall, and the name also belongs to the people who live there. The Thenns count themselves among the last true heirs of the First Men, still speak the Old Tongue and know only scraps of the Common Tongue, and answer to a Magnar whom their people treat almost like a god.

The valley sits atop the Frozen Fangs, a mountain range north of the Wall where the cold makes life almost impossible. Its people call themselves Thenns and take pride in being what remains of the First Men, set apart from the other wildling tribes by language and custom.
They keep the Old Tongue as their own speech, and most of them can barely string together a handful of words in the Common Tongue. They are ruled by a Magnar, a title their people do not take as meaning a simple chief: to the Thenns, the Magnar is something close to a god.
Chapter 2
The retreat to the valley

After Mance Rayder's defeat before the Wall and the scattering of the wildling host he had gathered, a man wrapped in furs and adorned with amber gathers the survivors and orders them to take shelter in the valley of the Thenns.
The Thenns themselves had already abandoned those lands, but hundreds of wildlings with nowhere else to go agree to follow the warrior into the empty valley.
