Yalli Qamayi (Sathar)

Yalli Qamayi is the name now given to Sathar, a ruined city north of the Dothraki Sea, in eastern Essos.

It was once one of the city-states of the Kingdom of Sarnor, and only the ruins that gave it its current name remain of its past.

Chapter 1

The City of the Falls

Books only

Sathar was part of the Kingdom of Sarnor and was known as the City of the Falls. It stood north of the Dothraki Sea and east of the Sarnori lands, crossed by a river that flows down to the Bay of Fangs.

Its current name, Yalli Qamayi, is of Dothraki origin: yalli means child, and qamayi may derive from qamay, lament, so the name can be read as "child's lament".

Chapter 2

Destruction in the Century of Blood

Books only

During the Century of Blood, the Dothraki destroyed the city. Of Sathar only the ruins now known as Yalli Qamayi remained.

The physical world

Por la ciudad cruza un río que desemboca en la Bahía de los Colmillos.

Geography · The Lands of Ice and Fire

El nombre de la ciudad es de origen Dothraki. Yalli significa niño y Qamayi, que puede derivar de Qamay, que significa lamento, por lo que se podría traducir como "lamento de niño".
