Desmond Caron

After the death of Ser Ryam Redwyne, commander of the Kingsguard, a place opens among the seven. Desmond sets out for King's Landing to put himself forward as a candidate, and along the way comes across a poacher, whom he captures and hands over to face justice.

Once at court, he is brought before Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, who thanks him for what he has done in the crown's service. The appointment, though, goes to another of the hopefuls: Ser Criston Cole.
