Humfrey Lefford

Humfrey Lefford was the lord of Golden Tooth and head of his house when the Dance of the Dragons split the realm into two camps.

After other western commanders fell, he found himself leading the host marching toward Harrenhal.

Chapter 1

In command of the western host

When Lord Jason Lannister and Ser Adrian Tarbeck fell during the war, command of the western host passed to Humfrey Lefford. Already old and wounded himself, he had to lead the march from a litter.

The army moved slowly east toward Harrenhal, no one in its ranks knowing that northern levies were already closing in on them.

Chapter 2

The battle of the lakeshore

130 AC

In this chapterAemond Targaryen

At Gods Eye, Humfrey ran into several Black hosts and hesitated before giving the order to attack. His men dug in and waited.

They sent ravens to Harrenhal asking Prince Aemond Targaryen for help, but Robb Rivers's archers shot them down one by one before they could arrive. Humfrey died in the battle that followed, by the lakeshore.

Chapter 3

A hesitant command

Those who describe him agree on one trait: he was a cautious commander, given to hesitation rather than quick decisions. That same hesitancy marked his final hours before Gods Eye.
