Qoren Martell
Qoren Nymeros Martell was Prince of Dorne and Lord of Sunspear during the reign of Viserys I Targaryen, at the head of the house that ruled the one region of the Seven Kingdoms never bent to the Iron Throne.
His name is remembered above all for a refusal: when the Dance of the Dragons split the realm, his support was sought and he withheld it, leaving behind an answer people still repeat.

Chapter 2
The refusal to dance with dragons
Books only
When the Dance of the Dragons broke out, the Greens sought to win Dorne over to their cause. They were counting on Prince Qoren — who had already fought against Daemon Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon and might hold a grudge against them, and who would also know how to stand against Rhaenyra's dragons — to side with them. The letter was signed by Ser Otto Hightower.
Qoren did not agree. He is said to have answered with these words: "Dorne has already danced with dragons. And I would sooner sleep with scorpions."
