Qoren Martell
Qoren Nymeros Martell was Prince of Dorne and Lord of Sunspear during the reign of Viserys I Targaryen, at the head of the house that ruled the one region of the Seven Kingdoms never bent to the Iron Throne.
His name is remembered above all for a refusal: when the Dance of the Dragons split the realm, his support was sought and he withheld it, leaving behind an answer people still repeat.

They were counting on Prince Qoren — who had already fought against Daemon Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon and might hold a grudge against them, and who would also know how to stand against Rhaenyra's dragons — to side with them. The letter was signed by Ser Otto Hightower.
Qoren did not agree. He is said to have answered with these words: "Dorne has already danced with dragons. And I would sooner sleep with scorpions."
