When the Greens seized Ladera after the battle, the castle and the town fell into their hands, and everything in them along with it. Ser Jon Roxton set his eyes on Lord Footly's wife and decided to keep her as part of the spoils.

Lord Footly protested and paid for it with his life: Roxton cut him in two with Orphan-Maker while tearing the clothes off Lady Sharis in front of everyone.

Half a year after the second battle of Ladera, Lady Sharis gave birth to a sturdy, dark-haired boy. She presented him as her late husband's lawful heir, though most assumed the father was Ser Jon Roxton.

She ruled the lordship in the boy's name and threw herself into rebuilding what the war had left in ruins: she tore down the burned frames of houses and shops, raised the walls again, buried the dead, and sowed wheat, barley, and turnips where armies had once camped.

Among her works of reconstruction, Sharis had the skulls of the dragons Seasmoke and Vermithor, both fallen in the battle, cleaned, mounted, and put on display in the town square.

The gesture also turned a profit: she charged a penny to look at them and a star to touch them, and travelers paid gladly.

When Queen Jaehaera Targaryen died in 133 AC, Lady Sharis had the boldness to put herself forward as King Aegon III's second wife.

The chronicles describe her as beautiful and bold, and it was that very boldness that led her to offer herself as a candidate for queen.
