House Ashford of Ashford is a noble house of the Reach, sworn to the Tyrells, seated at the castle of Ashford.
Its name is tied to one of the most remembered tournaments of Daeron II Targaryen's reign, and its stronghold later lent its name to a battle of Robert's Rebellion.
Chapter 1
The tourney at Ashford

Aerion TargaryenIn the year 209 after the Conquest, Ashford played host to a tourney called by its lord. His two sons, Ser Androw and Ser Robert Ashford, rode as champions of their sister, a girl of thirteen chosen as queen of love and beauty.
The tourney turned sour when a hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, clashed with Prince Aerion Targaryen. Duncan claimed he was only defending the weak, but Aerion demanded a Trial of Seven to clear his name, the first held in over a century. During the ceremony the crown prince, son of King Daeron II, was killed by his own brother.

The Battle of Ashford

Aerys II TargaryenLord Robert Baratheon lost a battle at Ashford during the rebellion that eventually carried him to the Iron Throne. There is no record of what part House Ashford played in the fight, but as a bannerman of the Tyrells it can be presumed to have fought for King Aerys II Targaryen.
