Ashford is a market town and the triangular castle standing watch over it, raised beside a tributary that feeds the Mander, in the lands of the Reach.
Seat of House Ashford, its outskirts have hosted some of the most remembered episodes in Targaryen history and in the war that ultimately carried the Baratheons to the Iron Throne.

Description of the Castle
The Ashford seat splits into two parts: a market town of whitewashed, straw-roofed houses, and a stone castle set a little apart, beside the river that feeds the Mander.
The stronghold has a triangular plan, with a round tower roughly ten metres high at each corner and a thick wall linking them.

History
Appointment of the High Septon
It was the year 54 AC when the septon Alfyn was preaching the Doctrine of Exceptionalism at Ashford. It was there, not in Oldtown, that word reached him that the Most Devout had named him High Septon.

Tourney at Ashford
In 209 AC a tourney was held outside the town: the Tourney of Ashford. Amid the jousting and the clash of lances, the Hand of the King, Prince Baelor Targaryen, met his death.

Robert's Rebellion
Battle of Ashford
In 282 AC, during Robert's Rebellion, Lord Randyll Tarly and Lord Mace Tyrell met Robert Baratheon's forces near Ashford. The defeat forced Robert to flee the Reach.
