House Baelish of the Fingers

House Baelish of the Fingers is a minor family of the Vale of Arryn, sworn to House Arryn, holding the narrow strip of coastline that gives the region its name.
It is the house of Petyr Baelish, the current Lord of the Fingers, and its history stretches back only three generations, to a mercenary who arrived from Braavos.
Chapter 1
A sellsword from Braavos

Petyr's great-grandfather was not born in the Vale but in Braavos. He crossed the narrow sea as a sellsword, hired by House Corbray, and stayed on.
It was his son, born in Westeros, who was knighted and chose arms that recalled where the family came from: the stone head of the Titan that watches over Braavos, carved in grey stone with burning eyes, on a pale green field.

The least of all the lords

Petyr BaelishPetyr's father was the first of the family to hold land of his own, though by most accounts he was the least of all the lords in the Vale.
It was with Petyr, the second generation to hold the Fingers, that the Baelish name began to carry weight beyond that narrow strip of coast, always as vassals of House Arryn.

Only in the show does the story treat House Baelish as finished: the trial of Petyr Baelish, in the year 304 after the Conquest, marks the house's end in that telling.
No book source records any such ending, so this is a point where screen and page part ways.
