House Chester of Greenshield

House Chester of Greenshield is a noble family of the Reach, lord of Greenshield and sworn to House Tyrell. Their island belongs to the Shield Islands, the chain that guards the mouth of the Mander and takes the first blow from any raid out of the Iron Islands.
Their arms show a green hand on a gold escutcheon over a green field, bordered in red, and their place in the Reach's history rests mainly on that role as a sea frontier.

Greenshield sits within the Shield Islands, the barrier the Reach keeps between itself and the Iron Islands, guarding both the mouth of the Mander and the wider Tyrell lands beyond it.
The Chesters rule the island as sworn lords, one house among those answering to Highgarden.

Euron GreyjoyDuring Euron Greyjoy's war for the driftwood crown, his forces strike the Shield Islands and fight the battle that takes their name. Lord Moribald Chester, lord of Greenshield, is killed in the fighting.
With Moribald dead and the island under his control, Euron does not return it to the Chesters — he grants it instead to Lord Maron Volmark, who takes over the rule of Greenshield.
