House Grimm of Greyshield
Casa Grimm de Escudo Gris
House Grimm is one of the houses charged with guarding the Shield Islands, the natural barrier that protects the mouth of the Mander and the heart of the Reach. From their seat at Grimston, on the island of Greyshield, they serve as vassals of House Tyrell and stand as the first wall against any fleet sailing out of the Iron Islands.
Chapter 1
The black cause and the thirty-three maidens
133 ACBooks only
When the realm split in two during the Dance of the Dragons, the lord of Greyshield backed Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen's claim to the Iron Throne, throwing his house in with the black faction.
Years after the war ended, following the death of Queen Jaehaera, Lady Samantha Tarly drew up a list of thirty-three young women of the Reach fit to marry the young King Aegon III. Among those named was a daughter of the lord of Greyshield, though the material says nothing of what became of her afterward.
Chapter 2
The siege of Grimston
Books only
When Euron Greyjoy's fleet fell upon the Shield Islands, Grimston held out until the house septon read the will of the gods into Ser Harras Harlaw's defeat of seven men in single combat. Convinced the gods had already decided, the septon handed over the castle without further fighting.
After the Shield Islands fell, Euron himself granted lordship of Greyshield to Ser Harras, leaving Lord Guthor Grimm alive but a prisoner in his own castle, held by the ironborn.
