Coldmoat

Coldmoat is the seat of House Webber, in the Reach, known for the moat that gives it its name and the crenellated wall that rings it entirely. Before it belonged to the Webbers, it was the largest of House Osgrey's castles, until the crown handed it to another family.
For generations, Coldmoat was contested ground between the Webbers and the Osgreys: a rejected marriage, a rebel pretender's promise, and a dispute over a nearby river's water that eventually drew in a hedge knight and his squire.
The Castle
Description of the Castle
From the outside, Coldmoat doesn't impress — it belongs to no songs. But its wall rises nearly ten meters, capped with corner towers, and the moat that gives the castle its name surrounds it completely. Above the arch of the main gate, the lion of House Osgrey is still carved there, worn almost smooth by wind and centuries.
The outer yard holds a smithy, an archery range, and kennels, along with a wooden seven-sided sept with stained glass windows. The hall where audiences are held has rushes on the floor and tapestries of tournaments and battles on the walls; there's also a maester's tower.
Under Aerys I's reign, the smallfolk living below the castle numbered twenty times those of Standfast. Its fields grew wheat, corn, and barley, and half a dozen orchards held apple, apricot, and three kinds of pear trees.

Confiscation from the Osgreys
Coldmoat was once the largest of House Osgrey's four castles, built by Lord Perwyn the Proud. That ended when Maegor I Targaryen sat the Iron Throne.
Lord Ormond Osgrey defied the king's laws, and the castle was the price: the crown seized it and handed it to House Webber.

Attempts to Reclaim It
Generations later, an Osgrey set foot in Coldmoat again, but as a page and later a squire in service to its new lords: his name was Addam, and he served there during Daeron II's reign. His father, Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast, once traveled to the castle to propose a marriage between his son and Rohanne Webber, Lord Wyman's daughter. The Lord of Coldmoat turned him down.
The other path was force: when Daemon Blackfyre rose in rebellion, he offered to give Eustace back Coldmoat if the Osgreys joined his cause.

The Moat Dispute
Diversion of the Chequy Water
By the time Rohanne was Lady of Coldmoat, a smallfolk man from Eustace's lands named Dake stole sheep from the Webbers. Eustace did nothing when the complaints reached him, so Rohanne's knights seized Dake and dunked him in the castle moat. Later, her men diverted the Chequy Water's course so the moat would never run dry.

Duncan the Tall's Trial
It was Ser Duncan the Tall who carried the dispute to its conclusion, sent by Eustace along with his squire, Prince Aegon. Rohanne answered by producing a royal decree granting the Webbers rights over the Chequy Water, which left Eustace's claim without ground to stand on. Duncan then fought the castellan, Ser Lucas Inchfield, and won.
With the trial settled, Rohanne agreed to marry Eustace. From then on, Coldmoat stood under the joint rule of House Webber and House Osgrey.
