Craster's Keep
el Torreón de Craster
Craster's Keep is the home of Craster, a wildling who keeps dealings with the Night's Watch despite living beyond the Wall. It is not the fortress its name suggests, but a low hall of logs and thatch, ringed by an earthen dike atop a small hill.
Its importance lies not in stone but in what happens there: it is a waypoint for black brothers on their expeditions north of the Wall, and the place where their stay will take a dark turn.
Chapter 1
A hall beyond the Wall
Books only
The keep sits atop a small hill, protected by an earthen dike with at least one gate facing southwest. A stream runs along the northern edge of the rise, and within the dike lie a filthy pigpen and a sheepfold.
The building itself is a single long, low hall of logs and thatch, large enough to hold thirty to fifty men. Entry is through two flaps of deer hide, and an open upper floor serves as sleeping quarters, reached by a pair of ladders. Inside, only Craster has a chair; everyone else sits on benches.
During the Night's Watch's great ranging beyond the Wall, the black brothers stay at the keep for a time.
Chapter 2
The mutiny
299 ACBooks only
After the battle of the Fist of the First Men, the surviving black brothers take shelter at the keep. During their stay a mutiny breaks out among the Watch's men, ending with the deaths of Craster and Lord Commander Jeor Mormont, among others.
The physical world
En el interior del salón, sólo Craster tiene una silla, todos los demás se sientan en bancos.
