Dornish Desert

The Dornish Desert is the vast arid expanse covering much of the interior of the southernmost peninsula of Westeros, a land of rock and sand where water is scarce and jealously guarded.
Its harshness has for generations been the Dornishmen's best shield against anyone who tried to subdue them by force.
Chapter 1
A refuge even dragons couldn't find

When Aegon the Conqueror crossed the Narrow Sea and subdued kingdom after kingdom, the lords of Dorne did not meet him in open battle. They struck instead in quick ambushes and then vanished, falling back into the desert and the passes of the Marches, where neither the conqueror's troops nor his dragons could catch them.
In time Aegon gave up the chase and left Dorne alone.
Chapter 2
The desert caravans

The same desert that once shielded the Dornishmen from Aegon's armies is also the road their caravans follow. Loaded with goods unloaded at the Greenblood, they cross the sands through the Prince's Pass on their way to Sunspear.
The physical world
