Isle of Elephants
la Isla de los Elefantes
The Isle of Elephants is a jungle-covered island in the Jade Sea, past the Cinnamon Strait and off the coast of Great Moraq. Its only known settlement is the city of Zabhad, on the northern shore.
It owes its place in the atlas's record to a visit by Lord Corlys Velaryon, the Sea Snake, who wrote of it in his travel letters.

The Sea Snake's letters
Books only
Corlys Velaryon reached the island during one of his nine voyages across the known world, and the visit survives only in the letters he wrote along the way.
By his own account, the island is ruled by a shan who lives in a palace of ivory. Nothing more is recorded of the encounter; the atlas keeps this single detail, undated and without sequel.
What we are not sure about
PositionWe worked it out
The position was inferred from the label on the base map rather than from a symbol of its own: it marks the area, not the point.
