Lands of the Long Summer

The Lands of the Long Summer are a region of Essos, set between the Shivering Sea and the Smoking Sea, once counted among the most fertile lands in the known world.
A Valyrian road runs the length of it, from Oros to Mantarys, a reminder that these plains were for centuries one of the granaries that propped up the power of the Valyrian Freehold.
Chapter 1
The ruined granary

Before anything else, these plains meant abundance: they were held to be the richest and most productive land anyone knew of, and that same yield made them one of the props of Valyrian rule over Essos.
The Doom of Valyria did not spare even this distance. Fire, flooding and ruin reached this far too, and the region was wrecked entirely. How many people died was not really known until a century after the disaster.
Chapter 2
The estates Aenar sold

Lord Aenar Targaryen held land here, part of the fortune his house had built up in Valyria. When he made up his mind to flee the Freehold, he sold all of it, keeping nothing back.
