Longtable

Granmesa

Longtable is the seat of House Merryweather, raised in the Reach where the Blueburn gives its waters to the Mander.

Its name enters the chronicles of the realm first through a siege, when a war for the Iron Throne dragged in the lords of the Mander as well, and much later as a refuge for one of its own lords.

In this chapterOrmund Hightower

During the Dance of the Dragons, Lord Ormund Hightower laid siege to Longtable. Hightower then commanded the Greens in the Reach and was marching on King's Landing.

Lady Merryweather surrendered the castle on the condition that neither she nor her people would come to harm. Hightower kept that part of the bargain, though his men carried off Longtable's wealth and divided its stored food among his host.

Soon after the surrender, several hundred men out of Longtable and Bitterbridge, joined by others from further south, marched on Highgarden to defend it against that same Lord Ormund.

Long after the siege, Longtable reappears in the chronicle of the realm through Lord Orton Merryweather, who by then held the office of Hand of the King.

When the Faith of the Seven imprisons Queen Cersei Lannister, Lord Orton resigns as Hand and returns with his wife to Longtable, far from King's Landing.
