Hightower

Lord Hightower was head of House Hightower, and with it, of every office Oldtown reserved for its lord: Voice of Oldtown, Lord of the Port, Lord of the Beacon, Defender of the Citadel, and Beacon of the South. His given name has not survived; what has survived is the part he played when the succession to the Iron Throne first began to go wrong.

It was his brother Otto, then serving the crown, who wrote to warn him about the heir the king had in mind. In time, his son Ormund would inherit the lordship of Oldtown.

Lord Hightower was already head of House Hightower and lord of Oldtown toward the end of the reign of Jaehaerys I Targaryen, holding every office the city gave its lord: Voice of Oldtown, Lord of the Port, Lord of the Beacon, Defender of the Citadel, and Beacon of the South.

In 105 AC he received a letter from his brother, Ser Otto Hightower, warning him of the danger that Prince Daemon Targaryen might become heir to the throne. Otto preferred that Princess Rhaenyra inherit in his place.

Death at Ladera

He had a son, Ormund Hightower, who would go on to succeed him as Lord of Oldtown. Lord Hightower died in 130 AC at Ladera, during the Dance of the Dragons, the civil war that split House Targaryen.

With his death, the lordship of Oldtown and all its titles passed to his son Ormund.
