Noyne
el Noyne
The Noyne is a river of Essos that runs down from the Hills of Norvos southward until it empties into the Rhoyne. The Free City of Norvos sits on its banks, and the Rhoynar regarded it as an untamed offshoot of their mother river.
Chapter 1
The channel that runs down from Norvos
Books only
The river rises in the Hills of Norvos and flows south until it merges with the Rhoyne. The city of Norvos was built on its bank, drawing on that course to settle there.
Chapter 2
The hairy men and the cold that drove the Rhoynar out
Books only
Prince Garris the Grey, lord of Ny Sar, drove out the hairy men who lived north of the river. In time, though, it was the Rhoynar themselves who abandoned those lands: the cold climate proved too much for them, undoing what the conquest had won.
What we are not sure about
PositionWe worked it out
The position was inferred from the label on the base map rather than from a symbol of its own: it marks the area, not the point.
