Skull Island

la Isla Calavera

Skull Island is an uninhabited islet of the Basilisk Isles, off the northern coast of Sothoryos, known for the piles of skulls that cover its shore.

No one lives there, but the corsairs who sail the Summer Sea use it as a grim dumping ground for the heads they display on their ships' prows.

Chapter 1

The skulls on the shore

Books only

The island is small, wind-battered and uninhabited, part of the Basilisk Isles off the northern coast of Sothoryos, within the Summer Sea.

It takes its name from the great heaps of yellowed skulls piled along its shore. Corsairs who sail these waters mount severed heads on their ships' prows to strike fear into others, and once the flesh is gone they replace them with fresh ones. The discarded skulls are not simply thrown away: they are left on the island, an offering to a dark god.

The physical world

Cuando estas se quedan sin carne, la reponen con cabezas nuevas y los cráneos son entregados a la isla como ofrenda a un dios oscuro.
