Tumblestone

Piedra Caída

Tumblestone is one of the rivers that feed the Red Fork of the Trident, in the Riverlands. Its course is not remarkable for its size, but for the two places that mark its ends: Ashemark rises where it is born, and Riverrun, seat of House Tully, stands where it meets the Red Fork.

Chapter 1

The river that guards Riverrun

Books only

Tumblestone flows with a gentle current, almost mild next to the force of the Red Fork it feeds into. That calm is deceiving, though: its bed runs far deeper, and anyone unaware of that can get a rude surprise trying to cross it in the wrong place.

The nearest ford to Riverrun lies several miles upstream, which leaves the lower stretch of Tumblestone as one more natural barrier for the Tully stronghold, set exactly where this river gives up its waters to the Red Fork.
