Vaes Efe

Vaes Efe is a ruined city in Essos, south of the Dothraki Sea and north of the Skahazadhan river. It was a Ghiscari city until the Dothraki razed it during the Bleeding Years.

Chapter 1

The city of shackles

Books only

The Dothraki gave the city the name that has endured: Vaes Efe, combining the word for city with the word for shackles. The name points to what once happened there, a slave trade with its chains on display.

The city was reduced to ruins during the Bleeding Years, when Dothraki riders swept through the Ghiscari settlements of the region. Of that slaving empire, only the name its destroyers gave it remains.

The physical world

El nombre de la ciudad es de origen Dothraki. "Vaes" significa ciudad, y "Efe" significa grilletes, por lo que se podría traducir como "ciudad de los grilletes".
